80,000 square feet

The American Revolution Museum at Yorktown replaces the Yorktown Victory Center. W.M. Jordan Company is construction manager for the first phases of the project, including a new 80,000-square-foot facility and visitor parking areas and eventual demolition of existing structures. The new building provides expanded exhibition galleries, classrooms and support functions. The galleries feature period artifacts, re-created immersive environments, short films and interactive exhibits to provide a tangible connection to people and events of the Revolutionary period.

Architect for the museum replacement project is Westlake Reed Leskosky of Cleveland, Ohio, and Washington, D.C., with Hopke & Associates of Williamsburg as associate architect. Gallagher & Associates of Silver Spring, Maryland, is exhibit designer.

The Associated Builders and Contractors Virginia Chapter (ABC Va) awarded this project an Honor Award of Excellence in the Institutional Category (over $20 million) at their annual Excellence in Construction awards.
