Julie Dixon brings over 35 years of experience in fitness and personal training to W. M. Jordan’s Wellness Program.

Her career began when she was asked to fill in as an instructor for one of her favorite classes at her local gym. She fell in love with training people and sharing the benefits of exercise and wellness with others. Before long, Julie was managing gyms in Phoenix, Arizona.

Julie’s marriage took her to Europe, where she continued to work as a fitness instructor for the Department of Defense. In addition to teaching classes to other civilians where her husband was stationed, she worked with members of the military that needed help passing their physical fitness tests.

Julie and her husband moved back to the states, where she worked at a community college teaching physical training and fitness fundamentals. After a stop in Mississippi, Julie moved to Virginia, where she worked as a group fitness coordinator for the YMCA in Yorktown.

Eventually, Julie transitioned her career to full time personal training and opened her own business. One of her clients ended up being WMJ’s Executive Director, John Lawson. Throughout their training sessions Julie learned more and more about  W. M. Jordan from Lawson.

He had the ultimate goal of making physical wellness a part of W. M. Jordan’s company culture and brought the idea up to Julie. After discussing corporate wellness programs with Julie and convincing her to join the WMJ team, the idea of W. M. Jordan’s Corporate Wellness Program was born.

“Coming to W. M. Jordan gave me the opportunity to go from helping 15 people to impacting the physical wellbeing of over 300 people,” said Dixon. “That really appealed to me and got me excited about designing this program.”

Julie worked with Lawson to build the program from the ground up. She oversaw the design and construction of the wellness centers at all three of W. M. Jordan’s office locations. In addition to a weekly Health Builder newsletter that offers valuable health and fitness advice, Julie coordinates wellness class schedules, teaches classes, works privately with team members and emphasizes incorporating wellness practices into employee’s daily lives.

“I want to remind people how powerful they are in controlling their health in the future. That is my goal. If you make wellness contagious, then we all get better, happier and healthier.”

Julie has seen great results since establishing W. M. Jordan’s Wellness Program. She continues to challenge WMJ employees and their families to achieve their fitness goals and ultimately live a healthier lifestyle.
