Atlantic Park is a new multi-use development at the Virginia Beach oceanfront featuring a 2-acre wave lagoon. The surf park will utilize an emerging wave technology, making this the East Coast’s most compelling outdoor adventure vacation destination. In addition to the surf park, the 15-acre multi-use development will include luxury apartments, parking garages, diverse retail and a three-level live entertainment venue, promoting offseason tourism and local quality of life.
W. M. Jordan Company’s Virtual Design and Construction team are using their tools and expertise for quality control purposes. The team used laser scanning at the entertainment venue to check the installation of the mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems above the ceilings to make sure function and aesthetics are balanced.
The project includes extensive infrastructure and right-of-way improvements to 20th Street, 18th Street, Arctic Avenue, and Baltic Avenue; all within the confines of a larger project encompassing in excess of 15 acres. Improvements include duct banks and vaults for Dominion Energy in each street, infrastructure for franchise utilities (Cox and Verizon), new sanitary sewers, new storm sewers, and new waterlines, new asphalt pavement, pedestrian pavers, lush landscaping, new City lighting, traffic and pedestrian signalization, and way-finding signage. The VDC team is using laser scanning to document exact placement of underground elements and will provide the City of Virginia Beach with a complete, coordinated set of as-built documents for this work.
With our clients, partners, and community, W. M. Jordan strives for the relentless pursuit of excellence.
