Location

Owning your part when it comes to safety in construction means taking accountability for your safety and that of those around you. In North Carolina, teams on our Piney Plains multifamily project in Cary, North Carolina the new Crowne Plaza Hotel at the Wilmington Airport are SHARP certified, the ultimate form of owning your part in safety.

The Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program (SHARP) is a prestigious certification offered by the North Carolina Department of Labor (NCDOL) to small and mid-sized employers who demonstrate exceptional workplace safety standards. For construction companies in North Carolina, obtaining SHARP certification signifies a commitment to creating a safe and healthy work environment, where Zero Harm is always the goal.

A main benefit of SHARP certification is the reduced amount of OSHA safety inspections on that project. SHARP-certified worksites are exempt from OSHA-programmed inspections for up to two years, provided they maintain their safety standards. This allows W. M. Jordan Company and our trade partners to focus on project goals and milestones, knowing there is a strong culture of safety in place that has been verified by the NCDOL.

The SHARP program also aligns with W. M. Jordan’s continuous learning culture. SHARP encourages ongoing evaluation and improvement of safety practices. Companies are required to conduct annual self-evaluations and undergo periodic consultations, ensuring that safety remains a top priority.

SHARP certification is one of the many ways W. M. Jordan owns our part in construction safety.  Taking the lead in creating a safe and healthy workplace is one of the best ways to achieve our goal of Zero Harm.
