Construction Safety Week Spotlight: Josh Dresen, Safety Manager

Share

We wrap up Construction Safety Week by introducing you to our newest Safety Manager, Josh Dresen.

Josh joins W. M. Jordan after a 20-year career as a diver in the Navy.

As a Seabee Diver, Josh’s focus was on underwater construction, often working as a Safety Chief on his deployments, making him a natural fit to join the WMJ Safety Team.

“We were very safety focused,” said Dresen. “We had OSHA training before each deployment, along with safety plans and risk assessments for each job. These would have to be approved by our superiors. There are many risks in underwater construction, and our goal was to minimize those as much as we could.”

A Wisconsin native, Josh originally wanted to be a commercial diver. Before he could leave for commercial dive school, a Navy recruiter reached out to him, and before he knew it, Josh was training with the Navy.

“The Navy gave me an opportunity to travel the world and form some close bonds with my deployment teams,” said Josh. “I enjoyed the comradery and teamwork, something I think I will find at W. M. Jordan.”

Josh will work as a Safety Manager in conjunction with WMJ’s safety team. He will serve as another asset to our field teams, helping ensure their jobsites remain as safe as possible.

Josh is happily married with two kids. His kid’s travel softball and baseball teams take up most of his free time, but he also enjoys hunting, fishing and camping. He is currently looking to get into woodworking as a hobby.

Welcome, Josh, to W. M. Jordan Company!
