Investigation Continues Into Safety Incident at Newport News Construction Site

Share

On the morning of May, 14, an incident occurred at the Ferguson Enterprises Headquarters Building 3 high-rise construction project in City Center, Newport News. From our initial investigation, we know that several pieces of steel fell from the second floor, striking two workers below. Both workers were employed by the steel subcontractor. At the time of the incident, W. M. Jordan Company’s project superintendent immediately administered first aid until emergency response personnel arrived on scene. One person lost their life and a second person sustained injuries to one of his arms. We are deeply saddened by this event, and extend our sincere condolences to the families, friends, and coworkers affected by this tragedy. W. M. Jordan Company has had no recordable safety incidents for the past two years and maintains the highest possible safety rating with an EMR of .68. The safety, health and well-being of everyone working on our project sites is our first priority. W. M. Jordan Company and Ferguson Enterprises are working with all project partners to continue a full investigation and will share more details as they become available. Founded in 1958 by Robert T.
