Patrick Barbier, LEED AP
Senior Project Manager « Back to Who We Are My story: My family moved to the United States from France right before I was born, and French was my first language. I grew up in Northern Virginia, and then went to Virginia Tech and got a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. A couple months before I graduated I realized my true interest was in architecture, so I continued my studies at Virginia Tech and got a Masters of Science in Architecture, Building Construction option. While there, I took a Summer internship with a mechanical contractor in Richmond. I fell in love with the Historic Fan District, and knew this was where I wanted to live after college. The next summer I spent framing houses and doing CAD for an architect in the Outer Banks of North Carolina, where I met my beautiful wife, who happened to be a Richmonder. Once my studies were complete I spent 5 years with McDevitt Street Bovis, before starting my career as a Project Manager with W. M. Jordan Company in Richmond in 2003.
Why I like working at W.M. Jordan Company: Our Project Teams are empowered to make decisions and resolve issues. At the end of the day, the only metric by which we are judged on those decisions is the Principle of Fairness—were the decisions made fair to our subcontractors, clients, architects, and ourselves.
My hidden talent: I can ride a unicycle. I also ride horses and can ring the big bells in my church choir.
My favorite things: I love spending time with my lady and three beautiful children in my “canned ham” vintage camper. I also enjoy shooting sporting clays with my son.
