The goal of W. M. Jordan’s Supplier Diversity Program is to promote diversity and inclusion of small, women-owned, minority-owned (SWAM), veteran-owned businesses and service-disabled veteran-owned businesses for our various projects. Our team also works with SWAM trade-partners to help grow their companies and grow within the construction industry. Our Supplier Diversity Program is led by Supplier Diversity Manager, Farrah Massenburg.
“We aren’t just focused on minority participation because a job requires it, but because we want to help grow these small businesses and their communities,” said Massenburg.
Indeed, W. M. Jordan Company works with SWAM businesses beyond the normal scope of finding trade partners for a project.
“We have done a lot of work to help our SWAM businesses network with job placement as well as gaining new contacts in our industry, whether that is with our clients or with other trade partners. Using our large network to connect people is one of the quickest ways to help a SWAM business,” said Massenburg.

To be certified as a SWAM business, certain qualifications must be met. Our team works with businesses to help achieve that certification, giving them access to bigger and better job opportunities.
Over the last 64 years, W. M. Jordan Company has expanded to include over 300 employees across three states. That growth has given WMJ the ability to not only hire SWAM businesses, but work with them to enhance their growth and development. W. M. Jordan Company also prides itself on being certified with the V3 Program: Virginia Values Veterans. This allows us to work with Service-Disabled Veteran Owned Small Businesses and Veteran-Owned Small Businesses on our projects. Our training and experience in this allows W. M. Jordan Company to follow best practices in recruiting, hiring, and retaining highly-skilled and dependable veterans.
Additionally, since 2005 W. M. Jordan Company has fostered many mentor/protegee relationships with a variety of companies across Virginia and the Carolinas. This program allows W. M. Jordan to collaborate with and provide resources to smaller firms, while providing our clients with a cohesive team from preconstruction to the project’s finish.
“It is important to use our platform to help smaller businesses excel and grow,” said Farrah. “At the end of the day, supplier diversity doesn’t stop with the job. We are looking to make an impact on the future of businesses and the communities they serve.”
