WMJ Supplier Diversity Spotlight featuring Chanel Brown

W. M. Jordan’s Supplier Diversity department is one of the many tools we utilize to help source the best talent for our projects and to assist in building strong relationships throughout the communities we call home.

Chanel Brown, W. M. Jordan’s Supplier Diversity & Inclusion Manager, took over our Supplier Diversity team in 2024 and has been eager to help make an impact across all of W. M. Jordan’s offices in Virginia, North Carolina, and South Carolina.

Chanel started with W. M. Jordan Company in 2019 after graduating from Virginia State University with a degree in Marketing. She spent the first portion of her career at WMJ as a Business Development Coordinator, where she worked with our marketing and business development teams to streamline our data retention, improve internal data collection systems, and support our teams throughout the project's lifecycle.

“I enjoyed all the analytics work I did as a Business Development Coordinator,” said Chanel. “I was looking for a new challenge to tackle, and with W. M. Jordan wanting to add leadership with an analytical focus to their Supplier Diversity department, it worked out as the perfect timing for me to utilize my talents to help lead our Supplier Diversity team to new heights.”

Since taking over the leadership of W. M. Jordan’s Supplier Diversity efforts, Chanel has been actively learning as much as she can from her fellow WMJ team members as well as the potential and current trade partners we work with.

“My goal is to be as helpful as possible. First, I’ve been learning how different W. M. Jordan departments work best with our Supplier Diversity team. Figuring out how we can best assist our teams internally has been one of my main focuses so far,” said Chanel.  “I have also spent a lot of time with our Business Developers & Estimators, getting to know their regions and making valuable connections that will help W. M. Jordan’s Supplier Diversity & Inclusion efforts into the future.”

Getting to know the trade partners we work with throughout the Southeast has been one of Chanel’s favorite parts of her Supplier Diversity experience.

“I want to continue to build and develop relationships with the trade partners we work with, as well as become more involved in organizations that support small and diverse businesses. I not only want to see W. M. Jordan be successful but also help raise up the trade partners we work with as well.”

Supplier Diversity is a key component in building strong relationships throughout the communities where we work. W. M. Jordan Company takes pride in not only working with a diverse group of trade partners but also using our experience and skills to help educate and elevate smaller firms throughout the Southeast. We believe a rising tide lifts all ships, and by working together, we can build a better future for everyone in the construction industry.
