2026 Intern Spotlight: Kailee Grose

Our first intern spotlight for 2026 features Kailee Grose, a rising junior at Clemson University studying Construction Science and Management.

This summer marks Kailee’s second year with
W. M. Jordan, both spent working on the Greer Multi-Family project in South Carolina. Having the unique opportunity to be a part of the same project across two summers has given her a full-picture perspective as an intern.  

“I have really enjoyed getting to come in during the framing stage when I started my first summer, to now seeing the finishing stages as the project wraps up. It’s been really rewarding to see both the beginning and (almost) end.” 

Kailee’s journey into construction wasn’t entirely traditional. She began her first internship as an architecture major but quickly discovered a stronger interest in the hands-on environment of a job site. 

 “I fell in love with being on site,” she said. “That’s what made me want to switch into construction, seeing the project come to life in real-time.” 

That decision has paid off, as Kailee has grown into a confident and capable member of the project team. Throughout her time on the job site, Kailee has been involved in supporting field operations, coordinating between trades, and tracking project progress.    

Like many interns, she started with limited industry knowledge but quickly caught on.  

“I came in barely knowing any construction terminology,” Kailee explained. “I’ve learned so much about what the trades do and how the language is used on site.” 

Throughout her time at W. M. Jordan, Kailee has developed a strong understanding of construction methods and drawings. So much so that she’s been able to help other students in her classes at Clemson build their knowledge as well. 

Returning for a second summer brought new opportunities and increased responsibility. Working with the same team, including mentors Ozzie Osborne and Dustin Harriott, allowed Kailee to step into a more trusted role on site.  

“They know what I’m capable of, and I appreciate that a lot. They trust me, and I know I can do it too.” 

Kailee describes her internship experience as a strong starting point in her career journey. It has not only confirmed her passion for construction but also helped shape her future goals of working in the industry. 

When asked what advice she would give to future interns, her answer was simple: 

“Go into it with an open mind and always ask as many questions as possible. You never know what you’ll like or not like until you try it.”
